Historic day for Jets

HISTORY will be made on Sunday when Moreton Bay United’s new Senior Women’s side makes its debut at Wolter Park.

Eastern Suburbs, who top the PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland ladder entering this weekend’s fixtures, are the visitors. Kick-off 2pm.

It has been a baptism of fire for Jets’ coach Lorna Dent and her team with five of their first six fixtures scheduled to be against sides currently in the top six!

But Lorna said: “I’m really looking forward to it. It’s great to have a home game at last.

“We’re probably up against one of the best in the league and it will be a tough game. But the girls in our team have been excellent and their heads are up all the time.

“I’m very positive about the season. Everyone knows it is a start, but everyone is working as a team, which is exactly what we are about.

“There are some mixed results and you’ll find everyone will have injuries and different things happen through the season, as we have.

“But it is important to remember we’re starting from scratch, we’re building and as the season goes on we’ll get stronger and stronger, we’ll develop as a unit and I think the signs are only positive for the future.”

Lorna targets for Sunday’s game include “to continue working on getting our team structure.

“We’ve had a few injuries but they are coming back and they are strong players, which will be great for the spine of the team.”
