Four named in state team for Japan trip

FOUR Moreton Bay United players have been selected for the Queensland Under 15 team to play in Japan next month.
Defenders Brad Morgan-Kleinman and Corey Salvati - and forwards Beck Phillips and Louis Rees will fly north for the seven-day tour from September 18-25.
Their Jets’ team-mates forward Daniel Bassingthwaighte and goalkeeper Riley Stent are shadow players for the squad.
All were named after representing Met North, co-coached by Jets’ U16 assistant Gary Paxton, at the Queensland Secondary Schools Under 15 Championships in Ipswich.
With Jets’ midfielder Lincoln Lyon and defender Sam Alderton also in the side, Met North only lost the grand final on penalties.
However, Louis Rees was named player of the tournament.
“The eight players from Moreton Bay United were in key positions enabling the side to combine well and play 4-3-3,” said Gary Paxton.
“This was a good opportunity to test their footballing knowledge and skills. They were focussed and enthusiastic about playing football fast and with good structure.”
Gary said the experienced taught them to “enjoy their football, adjust to play with other players outside the team and work and co-operate with other coaches and managers from outside MBU."
Dave Harris, coach of Jets' U16 side, said: “Well done boys, you have done yourselves and the club proud.
“Lincoln and Sam played verywell and should consider themselves unlucky not to get selected (for the state team).”
