Queensland call-ups for Jets' juniors

THREE Moreton Bay United juniors will represent Queensland at the FFA National Youth Championships in Coffs Harbour in October.

Goalkeeper Lachlan Williams is in the state Under 13 Metro squad, while midfielder Izaack Powell and striker Joshua Hong are in the Under 14 Metro team.

And it may be four with Bertrum Spiers, Jets’ Under 14 goalkeeper, named as a shadow player for the Metro squad.

Jets’ technical director Adam Piddick said: “Congratulations to all four. They have done very well to get in these squads.”

It is the first time for Lachlan Williams, who did not play PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland last season, but has a great opportunity now.

Izaack and Joshua were in the Under 13 state squad last season. This year they head south hoping to help Queensland retain the under 14 title won last year, with 13 points from its six matches.

Adam Piddick as Joshua Hong played in a defensive role for Jets last season, but has pushed forward this year to help his team – with stunning results.

Joshua is currently the fourth highest scorer in the PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland Under 14 Boys with 19 goals.

Izaack is “technically very good” and has a lot of potential, said Piddick.

The state squad will have a pre-national championships camp in Coffs Harbour from September 27. The five-day tournament, played in a round robin basis, starts on October 3.
