Darcie's refreshing move

JETS’ new signing Darcie Wilson admits her debut was a “bit of a shock to the body … but I enjoyed it”.

Darcie, who plays anywhere along the front line, had her first competitive match in more than a year at Easts last week, starting in the number 10 role.

Tonight, Darcie joins her new team-mates for the trip to Capalaba (7.30pm) and then faces last season’s double winners Lions at Wolter Park on Saturday (6pm).

“It was a shock to the body, jumping straight back into it like that,” she said, “but I enjoyed it and am looking forward to getting more games under the belt.

“I’m pretty lucky, I’m naturally quite fit so it probably won’t take me long to get back up to the level I need.”

It was a tough start for Darcie who started the 2019 season with Virginia in the BPLW before deciding to take a break from the sport.

“I was a bit tired of football and wasn’t enjoying it as much as I used to,” she said. “I decided to have a break and now I’m feeling refreshed and back into it.

“I moved to the north side of town. Moreton Bay United is nice and close to me and I thought I would give it ago, after having a year-and-a-half off.”

Darcie started as a junior with Moggill moving up through the City Leagues to the Women’s Capital League in 2016 scoring 30 goals in 22 matches.

In 2017 she joined Mitchelton in the Women’s Premier League hitting 31 goals in 20 games and then nine goals in 26 games for Mitchelton in the NPLW in 2018.

Last year Darcie played two games with Virginia before taking a break to refresh.
