New signing Holly Cawthorn said it was an “easy decision” to return to Moreton Bay United.
The 18-year-old was in our Under 13 and Under 15 Girls’ teams before joining Lions, where she played against Jets’ in this year’s NPL Under 23 grand final.
However, after speaking to head coach Greg Bradley, the central defender (who can also play holding midfield) decided it was time to pull on the gold and black again.
“I really love the club and I’ve missed playing there,” Holly said, “now I want to help build Moreton Bay United back up again.
“Greg told me what he was looking for and it was an easy decision to make.
“I had some other clubs interested, but spoke to Lions and they were really supportive of me and my decision.
“I learned a lot there (Lions). Training with those girls, week in week out … there were challenges and it lifted my game.”
Jets' Women's Head Coach Greg Bradley said he had been "keen" to get Holly back at the club.
"Holly is another one who played junior football at Moreton Bay United," he said.
"She can be a leader in a team and has a winning mentality. Those sorts of qualities will help us going forward."
Holly had a fine scoring record in her junior years at Moreton Bay United, hitting 10 goals in 18 games for the Under 13s and six in 19 for the Under 15s.
But it will be from the back next season where she will look to “help the girls and team step up” to the FQPL 1 challenge - and “hopefully make the top four”.
