Excited to be back

JETS’ women’s coach Ben Fuhrmann has secured the “first piece in the puzzle” with the signing of Jemima Head.

The versatile defender has returned to Jets after being part of our 2018 campaign when she played more than 20 NPLW games.

Jemima started last season at Moreton Bay United, but then joined Virginia in the Brisbane Women’s Premier League.

Coach Ben Fuhrmann said he hoped to reveal more new signings soon as the squad's rebuilding process continues.

“We've signed Jemima because she understands it's a new start for the squad which takes time,” said Ben

“We’re looking at a younger and sustainable brand and Jemima is excited to be a part of that. That's the type of player we're looking for.

“She also has some unfinished business here, after having a great year in 2018.”

It was Ben Fuhrmann’s vision for Jets' next season which persuaded Jemima to return to Moreton Bay United.

“I knew it (the vision) was something I wanted to be part of,” she said, “that and the amazing club culture and the ongoing commitment to growing women’s football.

“I look forward to taking on a leadership role in the team, helping to create a strong bond within the group of girls and developing a great work ethic and culture." Jemima, whose career has also included Sunshine Coast Fire, said she was “constantly looking to improve” and was “comfortable playing anywhere along the back line". “The goal is always the same, keep improving and do what I can for the team,” she said, “wherever Ben thinks I can help the team most I am happy to play.

“I really admire the passion that Moreton Bay United has for women’s football and look forward to help out where I can for a fantastic 2020 season."

Preseason training and trials for Jets’ NPLW and Under 18 Girls teams start on November 18 and November 21 at 6.45pm.

Players wishing to join should email their name, date of birth and phone number to admin@moretonbayunited.com
