'Excited to be back'

Dave Harris - a welcome return to Moreton Bay United.

Dave Harris, one of our foundation coaches, is “excited to be back at Moreton Bay United”.

After two years with Brisbane Strikers, Dave has returned to Jets and will coach our Under 18 squad next season.

“I spent many years with the club right from day one,” he said. “I have a lot of friends still involved at the club who have also been there since day one … which says a lot about the club culture and community feel.”

That started when Dave started, in 2013, as one of Jets’ original coaches. He helped launch the SAP (Skills Acquired Phase) program and coached the Under 15s, Under 16s, Under 18s and Under 20s.

Dave was assistant first team coach to Adam Piddick in 2015, when Jets’ won the Premiership and Grand Final, through to 2017 and then with Pouria Nabi in 2018.

He joined Brisbane Strikers in 2019 and 2020 as assistant first team coach helping guide them to the national FFA Cup semi-finals last year.

Dave has also coached at Nudgee College for eight years, five as 1st XI coach, has his B coaching licence and is now aiming for an A Licence.

Little wonder Jets’ Technical Director Matt Poole said: “It is fantastic to have Dave back. His significant senior NPL coaching experience and youth development experience will be vital in guiding the U18 players in this transition.

“Being a foundation coach, Dave has the best interests of the club and the players at heart and will be able to drive the Moreton Bay United values and standards.”

Despite being with Strikers, Dave has been a regular visitor at Jets and ACE games. “It always has a good vibe at Wolter Park. It's like mates hanging out watching football,” he said.

“I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Strikers and worked with great people and players. We shared good times - but returning to MBU feels right.

Dave believes Jets development program is “without a doubt is one of the best set-ups in the league. This doesn’t happen by accident.

“There are a lot of people involved at the club that work so hard to create the right environment and maintain the momentum.

“Matt runs a terrific development program and there will certainly be some challenges for me next season.

“There is a bunch of the Under 18s which I coached at MBU in the initial SAP and it's great to see so many of them are still at the club moving through the ranks.

“Matt and I have discussed the squad and we are pleased with its balance. I'm looking forward to working with them.”
