Qualifying for the Australia Cup Round of 32 was a top priority for Jets this season.
But having reached the first national round, coach Cameron Millar said his team wants to show it can “compete at this level”.
The visit of Victorian heavyweights Heidelberg United brings history, glamour and a touch of the unknown to Wolter Park on August 10. For tickets click here.
Heidelberg was in the National Soccer League, 15 players have represented Australia while at the club which has reached the cup quarter-finals three times.
However, six members of Jets’ playing and coaching staff made the last 16 in 2017, including coach Cameron Millar.
“All the players and staff are extremely excited to be involved in the national rounds of the Australia Cup,” he said.
“This is a big occasion for our club to be on the national stage and a great opportunity for the players.
“Qualifying for this stage of the cup was a priority for us this season and we are pleased to have achieved this.
“Now we are highly motivated to compete at this level and see how far we can progress.”

A key figure for the men in gold and black will be striker Marquez (Kez) Walters, currently leading the NPL Queensland’s goal scorers' list.
Kez is familiar with Victoria from his time with Preston Lions and said Heidelberg are “well known for doing well in cup competitions”.
“This is my first Round of 32 game and I’m looking forward to it,” he said.
“I’ve always wanted to play at this stage of the Australia Cup. It’ll be fun playing against them (Heidelberg) and an exciting game to come and watch.”
With 15 NPL goals and six assists to his credit so far this season, Kez has become a closely mark man – but he’s not concerned.
“I take it as a compliment actually,” he said, “it’s my job to make opponents change the way they play because of me.
“I always try to be in the game, if not scoring …. then helping set up goals.”
The NPL Qld takes a break this weekend, giving Jets more time to prepare – and fans extra time to book their tickets to the cup clash.
“On behalf of the team I would like to thank all of the players, members and supporters for their continued support,” Cameron said.
“I hope to see you all at Wolter Park on August 10, as we look to put on a performance the club can be proud of.”
