Hayley Gray has this week answered the call and signed for Moreton Bay United.
The striker, who will be 23 in a few weeks, heard Jets were looking to fill a few remaining places in their FQPL 1 squad.
“I wasn’t sure about playing this season,” she said, “then I saw (coach) Greg (Bradley) was looking for players and jumped on board.”
Hayley knows several members of Jets’ squad and played with Georgia Martell, who is joining us mid-season after a spell in the US, at The Gap last season.
The forward/winger is also familiar with FQPL 1 having scored four goals for The Gap Under 23s and made nine senior appearances in 2022.
She played for SWQ Thunder and won the Toowoomba Football League Premiership with Willowburn, before moving to Brisbane.
"Hayley is a welcome addition to our squad," coach Greg Bradley said.
"Having played at this level last year and having success in the Toowoomba league, she knows what it takes to succeed in FQPL 1.
"Her experience will also help guide our younger players this year."
Hayley will also be one of the older players in Jets’ new-look women’s squad this season.
“It has been a tough preseason here after a lot of changes, but I hope we can turn things around,” she said.
“Do the hard yards in training and one our fitness and go up from there.
“I’m happy to take on a leadership role and would like to try and help the younger girls in the team,” she said.
“And scoring a few goals wouldn’t be too bad either!”
