Izaack Powell’s wonderful start to 2019 looks set to continue with the former Moreton Bay United Junior named in the Brisbane Roars squad to face A League powerhouse Sydney FC tomorrow.
If Izaack makes his debut at Suncorp Stadium tomorrow night, he would become the Roar's youngest Hyundai A-League player at four days short of his 17th birthday!
It comes just days after the 16-year-old defender was an integral part of the Brisbane Roar's championship-winning Y-League team last week. Izaak is pictured with the Y-League trophy last weekend. The Roar website said selection for the senior squad was reward for Izaack's "impressive Foxtel Y-League campaign".
Matt Poole, MBU Technical Director said: “Izaack has obviously done extremely well to get to this point in his football career. He played most of his football for MBU in midfield, which gave him a solid technical base for when he was eventually developed into a fullback in his first year at the QAS.
"It will be a big thrill for the club if Izaack does make his debut especially considering his father John is still on the MBU junior coaching staff."
MBU continues to provide a strong pathway for its juniors and support the partnership with Brisbane Roar which now sees with 14 of its current SAP players training with Roar coaches in the Roar Pre-Academy each Friday night.
Everyone at MBU congratulates Izaack and is so proud of his success.
