North Brisbane Jets, which takes Moreton Bay United's nickname and plays in their colours, has just completed its Queensland Powerchair FA 2021 season.
Team member Jack Gillespie reports on the finals at Bowen Hills YMCA over the weekend and the season:
"The Jets' season was a mixed bag, finishing in third place at the end of the regular season.
"Jets threw various combinations together throughout the season, trying to spark their attack, but their nine draws speaks volumes of their defence.
"Unfortunately, the season was shortened due to COVID-related interruptions, but ultimately the Jets had their best year yet.
"In Saturday's finals, the Jets lost to Brisbane City 2-0 in the battle for a spot in the Grand Final, and then took on Richmond Lions for third place.
"The game was end-to-end right from the start, with both teams having plenty of scoring opportunities.
"Defences held strong at both ends, with neither team crossing the line before half-time.
"Jets were rock solid right until ten minutes to go, when, after an attacking onslaught from the Lions, a goal snuck through from a side-line set piece.
"Jets couldn't return serve, the final score being 1-0 to the Lions.
"The Jets finished in fourth place after the finals, but were proud of their effort throughout the season.
"Fingers crossed they can build on their strengths and go one better next year.
