Moreton Bay United return to action in the NPL Qld Women’s competition today after a 133-day break.
Jets make the short trip to The Gap, kick-off 5pm, with coach Ben Fuhrmann saying he is “glad to be back”.
His squad travels with several new faces, including striker Gabi Green who has returned to Moreton Bay United.
“We’ve added a few players which is good,” said Ben, “a couple of the (Under) 18s to the seniors, so we’re in a healthier situation than we were.
“We lost a keeper and got a replacement in Ro Petersen and she’s been great. We can finally get (overseas player) Sarah Karlik playing, which is awesome.
“I’m glad to be back. It’s going to be a longer year, but it’s looking better than it was.
“Now (with four games in 13 days) we can just get straight into it, no waiting, one game have a rest, play another. We should be pretty fit by the end of it.”
Gabi Green, who has played for Olympic, Jets and Virginia, agreed: “I love being back,” said the 17-year-old forward
“I missed it. One of my favourite coaches used to play here and he loved the club, so I thought I’d come back.
“I wasn’t able to really train (in the shutdown). I used the garage as an indoor gym and kept fit that way. Now I’m looking forward to playing.”
The revamped season will include games played before the shutdown and several bye rounds. Jets' matches are below but may be subject to change.
