Jet set for finale

Jets' powerchair team looking for a grand finale to the regular season.

Jack Gillespie reports on Jets' the latest round of Queensland Powerchair fixtures at Bowen Hills PCYC and looks ahead to the next challenges.

GAME 1 v City. Full time 2-0

The Jets started the game nicely, but two mistakes back-to-back saw City take a 2-nil lead early in the half. Towards the end of the first half, though, the Jets found some form, passing with greater execution and showing some aggressiveness in attack and defence. They carried this momentum into the second half, holding City out for the rest of the game.

Goals: City - #23 Jessie McCarthy, #11 Bryce Castles

GAME 2 v Strikers 3-0

Once again the Jets started well but paid for a couple mistakes early on. The Strikers put the Jets under pressure by camping down their end, and didn't give the Jets any opportunities. The Jets' defence lasted well into the second half, but eventually cracked, as the Strikers managed to sneak the ball behind the goalie, finishing with a 3-nil scoreline.

Goals: Strikers - #45 Sam Uchytil, #6 Josh Merkas, #10 Jack Parry

ROUND 11 PREVIEW

(August 31)

GAME 1 v Lions

As the last round of the regular season, the Jets will be desperate to bag a win before the finals. Reflecting on their season so far, the Jets have identified the recurring pattern of switching off for a few seconds per game, and that's when they concede goals. If they can put in a complete performance and get rid of those momentary lapses, they're in with a chance.

GAME 2 v City

Knowing that they're a real threat for the trophy this season, City will want to perfect their game in this last round so that they're ready for the finals. But the Jets, with nothing to lose, will go all-out in a bid to make City's dream as difficult to achieve as possible.
