Completing Jets’ three most recent signings is Sakashita Mitsuru, who was spotted with Naoki Maeda on the Sunshine Coast.
The full back (or wing back) had moved up to Queensland from NSW after playing a handful of games for South Coast Flame in the NPL3 last year.
Striker Jeremy Stewart saw Sakashita, 24, training in a park and invited him and Naoki to Wolter Park. Both impressed and were signed up.
After Jets’ pre-season camp on the Gold Coast, Sakashita said he felt “pretty good” about the move, while building his fitness levels.
Five weeks later, Sakashita and Noaki have seen plenty of game time in pre-season and last week’s 3-1 Kappa Pro Series victory at Sunshine Coast Fire.
“Everyone has been really friendly to me,” Sakashita said, smiling, “my aims here are to improve my skills … and English!”
Originally from Kyoto, the cultural capital of Japan, he was playing for Kyoto Shiko in the Kansai League Division Two, before heading Down Under.
“I am very pleased to welcome Mitsu to the Moreton Bay United family,” Jets coach Cameron Millar said.
“He brings a lot of quality and energy to our team and is a great fit for our environment.
“I look forward to working with Mitsu and seeing him and a Jets shirt this season.”
