Striking out for finals

Jets' powerchair team with some of the senior men who dropped in to watch a couple of games earlier this season.

JETS' powerchair team has finished its regular season fixtures - now for the finals. A 'do-or-die' battle with Strikers awaits at Bowen Hills PCYC on September 14 as Jack Gillespie reports.

GAME v Lions. Full time 0-2

Once again the Jets started strong, managing to counter-attack and spark a few break-away plays up the middle of the field. But a strong Lions outfit, lead by their captain, Tristram Peters, capitalised on their opportunities and scored a goal in each half. Both goals came about from sustained pressure deep in Jets' territory. Despite the score, the Jets will take plenty of confidence out of the match, as they gear up for their knockout finals game in a fortnight.

Goals: Lions - #1 Zac Burley, #2 Tristram Peters

FINALS PREVIEW

GAME v Strikers

This is the battle of first-placed versus fourth-placed. With a win, the Strikers will cement their spot in the Grand Final and end the Jets' season. Do-or-die, Jets will throw everything they have at the opposition. Jets' goalie, Nathan Tessmann, will provide a timely boost, having received his sports chair a week beforehand - which could very well make the difference.

Either way, the Jets should be proud of their efforts in what was a tough season. They're building, though, and can't wait to get stuck in next season - bigger and better!
