Jets' Powerchair team had another double header at Bowen Hills PCYC in Round 6 of the Queensland Powerchair League. Jack Gillespie reports and previews Round 7.
GAME 1 v Strikers - 1-2
The Jets were ambushed early on in this game, with the Strikers getting the ball across the line inside the opening 10 minutes. The Jets were able to scrape back temporarily, capitalising on a penalty shot, but couldn't hold on for long. The Strikers were able to score again and take a Jets' win out of reach with a 1-2 scoreline. Goals: Jets - #7 Jack Gillespie; Strikers - #6 Josh Merkas, #45 Sam Uchytil
GAME 2 v Lions - 0-3
The Jets didn't show much improvement in their second game of the round, and failed to get across the line. They had plenty of attacking chances, including a penalty shot, but solid Lions' defence denied them every time. The Jets could walk away happy that they were able to pull off some long passing, but overall it was a tough day at the office. Goals: Lions - #3 Mark Warren, #2 Tristram Peters
ROUND 7 PREVIEWÂ Â (June 22)
GAME 1 v City The Jets will be looking to forget last round's results and begin this one positively with a win. City will be tough to beat, especially as they are high on confidence after beating the ladder-leading Strikers in the previous round. But the Jets' desperation might be what they need to get the wood over them.
GAME 2 v Strikers
The Jets were able to score against the Strikers in Round 6, albeit in a penalty shot, but even so, it'll be sitting in the back of the Jets' minds and will give them some much-needed self belief. With two more weeks left after Round 7 before the finals, the Jets need to make their move. They'll be sure to leave nothing in the tank for this one.
